North America Regional Editor
Dr. Satya Prakash is Regional Editor (North America) for International Journal of Probiotics and Prebiotics, a journal focusing on bringing recent research and technological advancement in the field to academia, industry, policy makers, and public.
Concurrent with his editorial responsibilities, Dr. Prakash is the Director of the Biomedical Technology and Cell Therapy Research Laboratory. He is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Cells & Organs Research, and Physiology in the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Dr. Prakash is leading author of several research papers, book chapters, research and other scholarly articles. His publication list includes 20 approved or pending patents and the recently edited book "Artificial Cells, Cell Engineering and Therapy" published by Wood-head publishing, UK, and CRC Press, USA.
Dr. Prakash is a former Overseas Scholar, winner of a Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) Investigator Award, winner of Quebec Chercheurs-boursiers award for health research from Fonds de la recherché en santé du Québec, (FRSQ), Canada. He has received several medals including a medal for "Outstanding contribution to the advancement of science" for his academics and human health research excellence.
Dr. Prakash is the Director of the Graduate Program, Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University in Montreal, Canada and works as Director, Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Micropharma, a private biotechnology company in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Dr. Prakash is listed in editorial boards of several distinguished journals and serves as Assistant Editor of journal "Artificial Cells, Blood Substitute and Biotechnology". He holds an M. Sc. (Biochemistry), M. Tech. (Biochemical Engineering) form Banaras Hindu University, India and a Ph.D. (Biomedical Engineering) from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is married to Ghada Maria Saddi, MD, who serves at McGill University's Jewish General Hospital and other Montreal area hospitals and they are blessed with two sons.
